Much research has been conducted on data cleansing and data curation. This research and the corresponding industry practices have been helpful to support data analytics and to deliver higher-quality data for decision making. In the era of big data, however, it is also increasingly critical to develop automatic data washing systems, much like washing machines for cleaning dirty clothes, to support a wide range of tasks demanding data that are accurate, timely, consistent, complete, and credible. This panel will present and discuss different kinds of “Data Washing machines” currently being offered in the industry.
